Symphoney EDA downloads -- VHDL Simili 2.3 Build#10
Please read/print the following instructions before downloading the software
Step 0: If you are a first time user, you may wish to read (and maybe even print) these instructions before you proceed. Also consider book-marking this page since it gets updated very frequently.
Step 1: Download the software. This downloaded file includes software for all editions (FREE, demo, standard, professional, etc.).
VHDL Simili 2.3 Build#10 -- Windows (~9.3MB) or Linux (~9.3MB)
Note: Symphony EDA has an aggressive update policy. Please read our build notes for more information on our current and past builds and our update/build process. You can also view a list of enhancements that are already being considered for future releases.
Please do not hesitate to report problems. At Symphony EDA, we pride ourselves for providing very fast responses times -- within one business day in most cases.
Step 2: Install the software
Windows: Simply run the downloaded EXE file and follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard (you will need administrative privileges on Windows 2000/XP).
Linux: Untar and run the install script as shown below. It is very important that you follow the instructions to change your environment (.bashrc, .profile, .cshrc, etc.) printed during installation. You can be logged in as any user so long as you have write permission to the installation directory.
tar xvf
./install.sh
Step 3: Request demo/full licenses if this is your first download (not required for free-version unless your free license has expired or lost)
If this is your first time installing the software and if you are planning on using the graphical features of VHDL Simili, you will have to request licenses from the Symphony EDA license fulfillment server. This is entirely automated. It will save you the manual step of installing the license file if you run this Licensing Wizard while logged in as the user who installed the software or a user who has write permission to the installation directory. Please follow the instructions below (assuming you have already installed VHDL Simili):
Windows: Run "Start->Symphony EDA->VHDL Simili 2.3->License Management->Symphony EDA Licensing Wizard" or, you can also do "Start->Run" and then enter "sonata -L" as the command to run.
Unix/Linux: Run the command "sonata -L" after you have modified your environment according to the installation instructions.
Step 4: First time users only
Symphony EDA highly recommends running the tutorials. For users of Sonata (the GUI), please follow the instructions in Chapter 8 of the accompanying documentation. This tutorial is designed to teach you the features of Sonata in a very short amount of time (15-30 minutes). For users of the command-line tools, there are simple tutorials available in
Linux Information: Symphony EDA does not officially support other Linux distributions. However, you are welcome to try out other Linux configurations at your own risk. At the moment we do not have the resources (money or manpower) to handle requests for other configurations. Users using Mandrake 8.0/8.1 have been able to use VHDL Simili without any changes. The following information may be of some assistance in helping you use VHDL Simili with other distributions:
Kernel:
